Our experienced rum fanatic will share the exciting stories and rich history that the Caribbean has to offer. Life is always better while sharing stories over amazing rums.

Picked up from your hotel, take a leisurely drive enjoying the sights of Antigua. Arrive at the Captain’s Tavern Rum Bar an hour before the Rum Experience starts. The Captain’s Tavern is strategically located in the heart of downtown St John’s in Antigua’s main Shopping district “Heritage Quay”. After an hour of leisurely shopping, make your way back to the Captain’s Tavern and enter the “Black Prince” for the start of your rum tour.

The Rum Experience starts with the tasting of several Caribbean rums (white and Gold). while you enjoy the tasting you will be taken on an inspirational interactive journey on the history of rum and how it is made. You will learn how it starts from a perennial grass to the development of the liquor from a waste by-product with no practical use. Delve into the history of how this cheap new spirit boosted the wealth of Sugar Barons, and EU countries to the richest in the World 9the first global superpowers, which led to hundreds of years of wars among Europeans.
Delve further details about how rum was transformed by French Priests (while tasting French Rhums and Spanish Rons), and embraced by the British navy and Pirates. We also briefly discuss how and why New England became the leading manufacturer of rum, accounting for 80% of its exports. John  Adams in a letter to a friend stated “Rum was an essential ingredient in the war for American independence.”

You will be provided with lots of details with an entertaining presentation by a knowledgeable tour guide/mixologist in a unique and fun way.

The tour starts at 4:00 pm and pick-up will be around 3:00 pm depending on the hotel.
